Radio Drivetime slot… coming soon

Posted in Radio by saraburke on July 15, 2009

My plan is to have a back catalogue of my weekly radio slots on RTE Radio 1’s Drivetime programme but I have yet to learn how to record and upload them but plan to do so soon, promise… Usually I am on on a Thursday, between 5 and 6pm.

In the meantime, if you have ideas for topics to cover on the radio slot, please do leave a comment.

Many thanks.

    Hi Sara,

just wanted to say glad I found your site. I’ve have been listening to your pieces on the radio for some time and its nice to hear someone talking about the health service in what I feel is a fair and reasoned way.

As a public health care worker I find the hysteria at times by the media depressing. I’ve cut my radio time right down as I find the presenters (Ms Wilson included) downright rude to people who despite their deficits do seem to at least trying to make a difference. You for one are fair.

I see you’ve worked with the homeless, I did a stint with Simon in Cork in the early 90s. Of all the teams I worked with through the years they are the ones I keep in touch with most. Of course I get given out to often for saying we were all sooo messed up!

Look forward to reading your book.

    Best Wishes

I enjoy your Drivetime slots and am delighted to find that you are putting the scripts online. Particularly impressed with the Primary Care one; I too write in the Health area and know how difficult it is to get information sometimes.
Would you think about doing a slot on the lack of accountability of the HSE to the Dáil? As you know, most PQ’s get batted on to the HSE by the Minister. The HSE’s reply is never published as it is sent directly to the TD asking the question. This happens to some extent in other Departments where some of their functions are performed by public service bodies, but in the case of the DoH&C virtually all of its executive and admin functions are performed by the HSE and a small number of other state bodies.

I agree – accountability is a big issue – although to give the HSE their due, it has improved – PQs are now published at but it does stop the issue being discussed in Dail.
And having failed to up load recordings I now just blog after radio slot as I always gather more than I use and think tis useful to get information out there…
      Thanks. SB
